Our Mission

Helping Our People Excel. HOPE Africa. Started by a Nigerian-American family who knows first-hand the sacrifices involved in leaving one’s home, attaining an elite education and giving back, HOPE Africa wants to boost future young African leaders. To achieve its goal, HOPE Africa provides academic scholarships and a broader structure: volunteer opportunities, internships and a network of people to help them create sustainable projects with the aim of establishing a continuing system of resources for future generations.

About Us

The organization started with the general desire to help others who had the aspirations to succeed but lacked the means to do so. Nothing makes the inability to succeed more acute than when disaster or crisis strikes an area. Even without the formal mission of the organization yet created, HA decided to act quickly when the earthquake hit Haiti in January 2010. HA, along with its team of volunteers, led a three-day trip to Port-au-Prince, Haiti in March of 2010 distributing desperately needed books, food, water and medical supplies to those in need.

The Hope Award

Our mission is rooted in a refusal to let lingering financial hardship deter the next generation of global contributors. Where there is a supplemental scholarship need and a driven young person, Beyond the Boroughs thrives on the challenge to provide support – money and mentor-ship – asking only that each member of the BTB family give back, by one day sharing his or her experience with another.
