Benefiting the Hope Africa USA Charity
James Ihedigbo will host his first fundraising event with his charity, Hope Africa USA. The event will be at Emagine Theatre (200 N Main St) in Royal Oak, Michigan from 7-10pm.
The Hope Africa Charity was founded in 2007 when Ihedigbo was drafted to the NFL. James wanted to use his new platform to further the dream of his father, which was a dream and goal of a higher education for not only his family, but others. Ihedigbo’s parents also created an opportunity for people in their home country by creating a vocational school in 2001 that continues to help and provide education those in Nigeria to day.
“I have a great passion for helping others and believe it’s important for everyone to have the opportunity to get a good education,” says James Ihedigbo. “Now that I’m here in Detroit, I want to get involved in the community and raise money through my charity to give back to the students here and hopefully effect them in a positive way. We are raising money to fund scholarships that will effect local students right here in Detroit in their efforts to receive a college education.”
The event will be “Bowling with the Lions” and those that reserve lanes will have the opportunity to have a Lions player bowl in their lane for the night. Gifts and prizes will be given out to the first, second and their place teams that have the best scores along with dinner and a silent auction that will run throughout the evening.
