James Ihedigbo Hosts 2nd Annual Celebrity Bowling Event
Benefiting Hope Africa USA
On Friday, November 20, 2015, Detroit Lions Saftey, James Ihedigbo will host his second annual Celebrity Bowling Event to raise funds for his charity, Hope Africa, USA at Emagine Theatre (200 Main St.) in Royal Oak, MI from 7-10pm.
Last year over twenty Detroit Lions players were in attendance to bowl as each lane will be paired with one of Ihedigbo’s teammates. Teams compete for first, second and third place prizes.
James launched his foundation in Detroit last year, helping raise money for scholarships for African students heading to college. The money raised at this event will go to educational scholarships for students in Detroit to help them further their education beyond high school
“Last year we had a great turnout for this event and I really wanted to make sure we planned to do this as a yearly fundraiser for my charity,” says Ihedigbo. “By hosting this event we are able to raise a lot of funds for our students that we are currently sending off to school and every bit of funds raised helps provide another student with an opportunity to further their education.”
The Hope Africa Charity was founded in 2007 when Ihedigbo was drafted to the NFL. James wanted to use his new platform to further the dream of his father, which was a dream and goal of a higher education for not only his family, but others. Ihedigbo’s parents also created an opportunity for people in their home country by creating a vocational school in 2001 that continues to help and provide education those in Nigeria to day.
